For years, the
puppet creations of Rene have entertained audiences across the
country and virtually around the world. He enjoys an unequalled
reputation in his field for his complete mastery of the
puppet-maker’s craft, as well as his uniquely individual style
of showmanship and manipulation. This combination accounts for
the truly universal appeal of his productions.
From early in
his childhood, Rene has dedicated himself to perfecting the
skills of creator and performer. And through the years, his
enthusiasm has remained as strong as it was the day he began
hand-carving his first marionette from a block of wood, just as
the legendary Geppetto created Pinocchio. It is with this zeal
that Rene continues to create beautiful puppets, with a true
craftsman’s painstaking attention to detail.
But designing
and creating puppets of every description is only one facet of
Rene’s artistry. His special style of manipulation, which has
become a trademark, keeps him constantly in demand, as a
performer.
Whether in Las
Vegas showrooms, onboard luxury cruise ships, or in many of the
most well-known clubs abroad, Rene has been entertaining
audiences for years. And his puppet creations have delighted
visitors at Southern California’s most famous tourist
attractions, Knott’s Berry Farm for eight years, San Diego Zoo
two years and Universal Studios.
Rene’s
television appearances began on the Dave Garroway, Ed Sullivan,
and Hollywood Palace shows. His own educational program for
children, “Domingo,” enjoyed a run of three years on ABC-TV in
Los Angeles, and won a local Emmy award for excellence in
children’s programming.
His creations
have been seen on “Fantasy Island,” “Fridays,” “Benson,” “You
Bet Your Life,” “Mrs. Columbo,” “Bill Cosby’s Christmas
Special,” and many others. His special work in movies and
television commercials has found him animating a Model T for
Coberly Ford, hamburgers for McDonald’s, the Pillsbury Doughboy
used in their television specials, and characters in the Lily
Tomlin film, “The Incredible Shrinking Woman.” His puppets have
also been seen in commercials for Toyota, Continental Airlines,
R. C. Cola, Bill-Mar Farms and the California Dairy Association.
Major
corporations have also used Rene’s talents in their sales
promotion activities. Among the most notable are Burger King,
Honeywell, Sylvania, Ampex, Keebler Cookies, Bell Telephone, and
Southern California Edison.
Whether his
characters are being used by such major corporations or
entertaining for private parties in the homes of Hollywood
celebrities; Rene’s skills as craftsman, performer, and producer
of puppet entertainment remain unmatched in his field. |
